Cars Are From Mars And Transit Is From Venus

The car is bad for the city
Is the TTC the priciest transit system
 in North America?

And isn't it a pity
The only reason people drive
Is to keep failed industry alive

Are cars the necessary evil?
Supporters of filthy oil,
Bad at moving people;
More cops to police the roads,
And meter maids out in droves

Cars drive the ego greedily
"Look out for number one"
And get to work more speedily
Every amber you're going to run

Alas, but not no-more
Public Transit Is Underfunded
Because the Wealthy
Don’t Rely on It

If sitting in traffic, is what you deplore
Government built bridges
And roads galore
Fixing city gridlock, is political lore!
To get you to vote for
The slick talking suit,
The one you adore!
The big ol' baby kisser
Getting your pocket picked's
A real pisser!

The way the Beer Store
Bought off the province
Is a possibility why,
Car moguls hold providence

Money and power,
The timeless god;
Can turn the most righteous
The end of the car is coming
Into a fraud
It's mass transit,
Commoners applaud
All abroad!

Transit's more suited
To the digital age
Urban cars,
Keep us locked in a cage
Stuck in an age
When driving fair Miss Daisy
Was all the rage

No texting while driving
Phoning behind the wheel
Man charged `because of his race,' judge finds
Is down right conniving
And many lives did it steal

Look at what the car is depriving!
Not just your sleep
Home late you'll be arriving
If the drunk driver misses
Then you'll be surviving

We need a mass transit strategy
Instead of a pipeline mentality
Leaders who are true visionaries
Not coal-mine testers, with little pet canaries
Mass transit to link all of North America!
Would not only create jobs, but keep mobility dear to ya

Car Buying Guide
Leave the car at home
Or take a drive in the country
On a nice autumn day
When the leaves go all crunchy
Driving in the city
Got your underwear all bunchy
Driving, drove you mad
Now you're stupider and punchy

After all's said and done
Cars used to be quite fun
Now they're made for utility
For you to drive until senility

One day we'll reminisce
How driving was such a fad
Oh to get those keys
Off of dear old dad
Made sure to gas her up
Put the coolant in the rad
Sex on the backseat,
Made a young kid real glad

Friday night was a blast
Hit the clubs, got all gassed
But before we got real drunk
Had a two four, popped the trunk
Woman killed in downtown hit-and-run

After the club,
Got stopped by R.I.D.E
Couldn't get passed our liquid pride
We just had to drive
Some licenses were deprived

Time eventually caught up to us
Today we do our part
We take the bus
In spite of the frustration in our heart

The Feds, and the province, betrayed our trust
Commuter fortunes have all gone bust
Transit delays leave many with disgust
For some taking transit is a must

Others wish cars
Would simultaneously combust
Driving while Black was far too unjust
Hit and runs made people targets
Dead in the dust
The victims of cars were told to adjust
Our leadership today is depleted by rust!
