IT CAN HAPPEN TO ANYONE

What's it like to be homeless?
JONATHAN HAYWARD /
THE CANADIAN PRESS
Park rangers walk
past a homeless person
 sleeping on a bench
in Oppenheimer Park
 in downtown
Vancouver, on Oct. 16.
A June mental health
study found providing
 housing, and backing that up
with support
services, was more
effective and
cost-efficient at getting
people off the streets than
trying to treat them first.
Hair a mess
Because you're combless
Body aches
The ground is foamless
Nowhere to go
Means you roam less
Your gleam is gone
Dull and chromeless
When not in Rome
Do as the Romeless

Collateral damage for the Western life
Nobody wants to know your plight;
Unless you got kids, a job
A house, a car and a wife
There's no pie left, for your slice
Reality cuts deep, like a knife
Many are a pay-check light
From being labeled a social blight

Mr. good shoes said, get a job
All his life, been a working slob;
He frowns on your luck after dark;
At Queens Park Station, near Queens Park
A lady with a good bag threw spare change
But our loonie went down the drain

Hunger pangs
Canada failing homeless
youth, report charges
On a belly descend
Cold subway fangs
Passerby, ain't no friend

Dope sick feeding time
You're on the mend
Spare change for your veins
This hurt won't pretend

Light the way
Like flame to paraffin
Chase the day
Blaming lack of homeless services
for recent deaths is jumping the gun
MARCUS GEE
The Globe and Mail
With sweet Ms. Heroin

Nod your head
Scratch your nose
In the darkness
No one knows
How the loneliness
And despair just grows

No homeless shelter
Will pass for a home
When winters cold, cuts to the bone
Or summer's, sweltering heat, has grown
The Homeless Hub, a research
 library and information centre
at York University, says that
close to 200,000 people are homeless
each year in Canada but more
than 1 million Canadians have
experienced homelessness
at some point in their lives.

Why don't police just leave them alone?

Ate a bag of day old donuts
On a sour stomach, made you go nuts
On the ground, picking up butts
Your day is spent riding the bus

The local library, ain't no home
No fixed address, no books on loan
Security chased you, from the Eaton Centre
Because you're neither a homeowner,
Nor a renter
Those with no home
Are labeled - offender

Anyone, can become, mentally ill
Does that mean, your life, should go downhill?
Some are elderly, some are young
Yet many drop, an economic rung

Many are sent to the house of detention
In admin seg, with no medical attention
Others are homeless, and under housed
Living under bridges, where they caroused
By homelessness, is your apathy aroused?
Two outdoor deaths prompt
Toronto to review how
 it treats the homeless
Like the so called values, our elected espoused

Housing needs to be more affordable
Using subsidies remaining portable
So existing housing is supportable
So the lives of many are not deplorable
Canada's less progressive, than Portugal
Where drug decriminalization became historical
Today's Canadian values are less exportable!

A Street Car Named Dire

TTC boss Byford 'not happy'
about new streetcar delivery delays

Toronto streetcars are so old...
How old are they?
The TTC forgot Canada was cold
What's more, and even quite bold
Bombardier was paid for
New streetcars not sold

Usually when you make a purchase
You expect prompt, reliable service
3 out of 43 streetcars,
Makes us feel worthless
Broken promises
Makes all of us nervous,
By 2019,
We could lose our shirts and go shirtless

Toronto streetcars are so old...
How old are they?
How do TTC promises stack up?
They hired a blacksmith to have the metal parts rolled
The TTC forgot:
The Battle of York did unfold
Andy Byford's attempts were put on hold

Toronto strives hard to be world class
So why is the TTC stuck in the past?
Why is transit in Ontario so damn incompatible?
The Toronto Transit Commission is so intractable
Political fixes, so far, have been laughable
In spite of this, Ontarians remain affable

In the Greater Toronto Area
Transit causes mass hysteria
One of many a problem
With no willingness to solve'em
Municipal funding is bad for transit
In B.C., the province was willing to chance it
Could a provincial transit system be the answer?
So fare box funding doesn't spread like cancer

Come on Ms. Wynne
Don't shirk!
Put our income tax cheddar to work
"Toronto’s streetcars are so old,
the TTC has a blacksmith make
 parts for them because
they aren’t available
anywhere else."
TTC fares done gone berserk
Come on Ms. Wynne
Give dem purse strings a jerk!
Give your government booty a twerk!
Entice a TTC subsidy from the provinces bank clerk!

"Hop on the bus Gus"
"We [do] have to discuss much"
In Ontario the fare box is a crutch
Government is way out of touch
The province and the feds need to go Dutch
Conservatism means, government don't pay much!

Toronto streetcars are on a street named Dire!
Under politicians
"Come on baby, light [a] fire"
By next winter,
Toronto's streetcars will need a funeral pyre
We want "A Streetcar Named [what the people] Desire"

Koenig's Minions

Instant Serial
Like Rice Krispies cereal

Light on new material
Substantively ethereal

The consumers of dread
Ate their Serial like bread
Not caring about the dead
Self absorbed, swollen head

Hook, line and sinker
Serial, fans point the finger
To free Adnan from the clinker
Was not for the freethinker

Staring host Sarah Koenig
And Jay Wilds, her villain, prey "nig"
JAY SPEAKS PART 2:
‘HAE WAS DEAD BEFORE
 SHE GOT TO MY HOUSE.
ANYTHING THAT MAKES
ADNAN INNOCENT
DOESN’T INVOLVE ME.
High recognition or high pay gig?
Unearthed Hae, in a grave dig

The bloodthirsty in the end
Did not want to pretend
They really wanted to send
Jay upstate, with his "friend"

After all of America's past hatred
American equality, still is outdated
This American Life, still is ill fated
While African America,still is degraded

America needs a distinct Black region
Run by an elected Black legion
JAY SPEAKS PART 3:
THE COLLATERAL DAMAGE
OF AN EXTREMELY
POPULAR PODCAST
ABOUT MURDER
Like Europe's denial, of Jewish social cohesion
Racist Americans are not peaceful like Norwegians
American society is not like life in Dijon
The U.S. declared Black open season
Black succession, has very good reason

At the behest of Rabia Chaudry
On Jay's head, Koenig put a bounty
Like a Sharia stoning by a Saudi
Serial fans became quite rowdy
Now Jay's looking pretty dowdy

Serial made second, the real cost
Hae Min Lee's, life was lost
Adnan's plea, became embossed
Carved in minds, Serial did accost
Painting Adnan as innocent and double crossed

EXCLUSIVE:
PROSECUTOR IN
‘SERIAL’
CASE GOES
 ON THE RECORD
Whatever is "The Deal With Jay"?
A young boy in the time of Hae
Serial fans want Jay to pay
Like a brainwashed chorus all of them say
Helping bury a body, still is foul play

This is true but to what end?
The courts tried Jay and his friend
Judgement passed, sentence given
The murderer ended up in prison

Evidence against Adnan, found
Cell records and Jay's testimony were grounds
Nothing new, compelling or profound
Emotional manipulation got Serial fans wound

Blacks are political targets in America
If it's not police terror striking fear in ya
Then inequality's provoking, daring ya
Or federal legislation is legally ensnaring ya
Live free! Or death'll be staring, square at ya!
